It is named in honor of Marie-Thérèse de Bourbon, Duchess of Angoulême, daughter of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette. Indeed, the young princess was affectionately nicknamed by her mother "Mousseline la Sérieuse". The Duchess of Angoulême was also one of Menière's most prestigious customers.
